Batty for Bats

4 September 09

Sandy McPhee, the Countryside Ranger, visited P1-7em to talk about biodiversity. When the conversation turned to bats, the pupils got very excited and decided that a bat box for the garden would be a good idea.

A bat box was made by the pupils and is now hanging in the school garden.

Yummy Food

Pupils got stuck in with the school cooks to make their favourite foods – cheesecake and pizza. All agreed that the food tasted delicious! Thank you to the cooks for their help.

The pupils are focusing on food for the first 2 terms and will be cooking ever week. Some parents have volunteered to come in and help or to demonstrate recipes. It is proving to be a popular topic and the children are very excited about it.

If you would like to help with the cooking, then get in touch with Mrs Beaton to arrange a date. Cooking will take place every Wednesday afternoon.

We were taking part in the bird watch on Wednesday. It was fun.

I saw 2 Robins and 2 Blue-tits.  Others saw other birds.  We wrote it all down and will count them all to give back tot he RSPB bird watch group.

A Clean Sleat… logo

Posted by: sleite | 28/01/2009 | 1 Comment |

The Clean Sleat community eco group needed a logo for their group, so they asked all the classes to draw a logo for them.  Robbie, Michael and Finlay won the competition.  They got £50 for winning!

My Clean Sleat logo was a drawing of mountains, trees, the sea, hills and the sky.  It was fun doing the logo competition.

We made an experiment.  We put the ingredients into a bottle and shook it.  We left it for a few days and we watched what happened.  The mixture made the balloons blow up. There was a reaction with the ingredients.

We put the ingredients in the bottle.   mixing up the ingredients

On Saturday 17th January 2009, Elizabeth and Laura decided to go on a ‘door to door’ sales for soap they made together.

They travelled around the houses in Sleat and raised £22.00 for charity (to be decided). They ran out of soap to sell!

Last term, our class were making soaps for our enterprise project. We made big ones and small ones.  It was fun because we sold them at the Christmas Concert.

Christmas Concert

Posted by: sleite | 20/01/2009 | No Comment |

The Christmas Concert happened at the end of 2008.  My class did a Christmas play called “A Christmas Lesson”. After that we sang three songs.

The nursery and P1-2G did a “Singing in the Rain” thing, P5-7G did a really funny play. I do not know what the play was called.

A lot of the audience were filming the concert with video cameras, well at least half of the audience were filming with video cameras.
